Congratulations to John F. Paice. He is the winner of Working Title's West Virginia South subscription give-away bonanza. Sound familiar?

John is a winner, good things happen when he plays (this does NOT apply to sports....although, perhaps if he did play in any of the games, they would have won). Check out the comments section of the Working Title post for John's acceptance speech. He is funny. Intentionally.

In non-John-won-another-contest news, I went to the WV Book Festival today. I bought a book. Also, I talked to some fellow nerds, local authors/publishers and even briefly met with representatives of C-SPAN's Book TV. I gave them some suggestions and they gave me a bright orange pen that doesn't work. I also stopped by the ACLU booth to ask the dude when the flag-burning was set to start. He said "ten minutes." At least he had a sense of humor, which takes the sting out of that whole godless indoctrination problem.

The leaves are beautiful in West Virginia.


The highlight of the day was having lunch with one of my very best friends on earth. We talked about our wives, how much we love and believe in them and how beautiful women are when they reject the prevailing culture's tired and destructive dogmas. Hooray for lovely women, gifted and godly.
